The following Emax program is a standalone program that you can run
on your own computer to collect and analyze log files from the Arnav,
Avidyne and Cirrus/Perspective MFD's. I have added a new button on
the left to Cirrus Reports. This is a superb web-based application
that does much the same thing, with some additional great features. ********************************************** Version 22.0 has some more bugfixes. YOU MAY HAVE TO UNINSTALL ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS BEFORE INSTALLING THIS VERSION. The Google Earth facility is easier and faster than before. An even more important development is that Emax now reads the latest Cirrus Perspective files which contain lots of information such as roll and pitch etc. A new button has been added that runs a PFD simulation program. You can see what this looks like below (click to magnify)
There is also a button on the left to show a movie of the PFD in action. . Version 21.2 is now available. This has some bug fixes that (I hope) make the program more stable. Version 21.1 is now available. This has a few bug-fixes that make the programme more stable (I hope). A new program PER-Splitter is now available. This splits up the long multiple flight files downloaded from the Cirrus Perspective. Version 21.0 is now ready for downloading (not from US site yet). This has the following new features. Under the Help menu item a summary of engine faults and diagnosis. On the summary logfile page a button to create histograms. Finally, the program now reads the GARMIN log files from the Cirrus Perspective aircraft. Version 20.9: I have added a facility whereby if you hold the CTRL key and click on the graph with the left mouse key you get a black cursor line there. This can be repeated to build up a series of cursor lines. Then if you run Google Earth from the Emax Analyzer program, you should see blinking indicators on the plotted route corresponding to where you marked the cursor lines. Useful to see exactly where en route a particular feature in the log plots occurred. In addition, when Emax is started the summary logfile button is active immediately. Version 20.8: 1. Under the File menu item there is a new entry that enable you to specify the minimum size of logfile (in kbytes) that the program will read in. This is useful to avoid attempting to read in rubbish files. The default is 10kbytes. 2. A logfile can now be read in using a command line instruction such as Emax <logfilename>. 3. The Emax Batch Processing Program written by Joe Areeda can automatically launch the Emax Analyzer (highlight a line and right click). Version 20.7 includes a magnifying glass and a new graph page showing the differences between EGT's and CHT's from their average values. This feature may help in identifying gross departures from the normal. Version 20.6. This has repaired the facility whereby the cursor highlights each trace, increases the margins above and below the traces. In addition there is now a new button that allows the initial lines of each log file to be included if required (these arise when the MFD is switched on and before the GPS finds its location). Version 20.5 corrects some horrible bugs that have crept into the Report facility of Version 20.4. In addition, the database or airfields and navigation data can be edited and saved. Version 20.4 includes a Report facility to export all the charts for a flight into one file for printing as a PDF. Version 20.3 has added some new features to the simulation mode: in particular single stepping and trend indicators. Calculations of LOP power have been corrected. Changes in Version 20.2: This has a more up to date Help file plus an extra button that creates a flight plan of your flight for reading in by Microsoft Flight Simulator (2004 and FSX). Changes in Version 19.3: A serious bug has crept into Versions 19.1 and 19.2 in which some log files are not read in. I have corrected it (I hope) here. In addition in the summary flight log page you can now select Hobbs Time (for parts of the flight over 40kts ground speed) . There is a new button to allow export of the summary flight log to Microsoft Excel. A Powerpoint presentation showing how to use the program is available. To view this you may need to download the Powerpoint viewer, which you can get from Microsoft. This installation includes high-resolution coastal and state boundary mapping for Europe, N. America and Australia. If this file is too big for you then, below you can install the Emax Short version without the high resolution maps. To install the high resolution maps download any or all of the following and copy them into the folder in which you have installed Emax (usually C:Program Files\Emax). An example of a log file containing altitude data is given here. For ARNAV users, you will need to download a small stand-alone program called AR-Splitter. This will take the Comma-Delimited file (.CDF) from ARNAV's EngineWatch program and split it up into individual flights in readiness to be read in by the Emax Program.
